CHATTOGRAM, May 27, 2025 (BSS) – A woman was electrocuted in Satkania upazila last night after her entire house became electrified.

The deceased was identified as Monowara Begum, 40, daughter of the late Bacha Mia of the same area. She had been abandoned by her husband and was living with her two children.

Md Jahedul Islam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Satkania Police Station, said the accident occurred on Monday night when the house became electrified.

Local Union Parishad member Md Hanif Chowdhury said Monowara lived in her father's house with her two sons. During Monday night’s rain, an electric wire broke off from a nearby pole and came into contact with the tin roof of the house, causing the entire structure to become electrified.

Unaware of the danger, Monowara went to drink water from a pitcher kept inside the house. She was electrocuted and died on the spot.
