PATUAKHALI, May 28, 2025 (BSS) - National Nutrition Week and Safe Motherhood Day 2025 was observed in Baufal upazila of the district today through a series of awareness programmes aimed at promoting maternal health and nutrition.

A discussion was held this morning at the Baufal Upazila Health Complex with assistance from the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF).

Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr Abdur Rauf presided over the event, while Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Acting Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Protik Kumar Kundu attended as the chief guest.

Dr Nurjahan moderated the function.

At the event, speakers said that nutrition and safe motherhood play a pivotal role in building the foundation of the future generation, adding, "We cannot move forward without a coordinated approach involving the family, society, and the state."

Officials from the upazila administration, health inspector, assistant health inspector, and nurses, among others, participated in the meeting.

Earlier, a rally was brought out from the premises of the Baufal Upazila Health Complex.
