Low pressure at sea suspends Patuakhali's internal launch movement

PATUAKHALI, May 29, 2025 (BSS) - Patuakhali River Port Authority has 
suspended all small and large launches on 17 internal routes of the coastal 
district due to the prevailing adverse weather conditions.

Large double-decker passenger launches bound for Dhaka-Patuakhali will 
operate regularly. 

Patuakhali River Port Assistant Director Md. Zaki Shahria said that due to 
low pressure, Payra Port has been placed under local cautionary signal number 
3 and our river ports are under warning signal number 2, all launch movements 
have been suspended on 17 internal routes in Patuakhali district. 

In addition, all speedboats in the district have been prohibited from 
operating with passengers. Meanwhile, all large double-decker passenger 
launches bound for Dhaka from Patuakhali will regularly leave Patuakhali Port 
with passengers for Dhaka. 

However, if the weather is normal, the launches will operate again. A total 
of seven launches in the district, including two double-decker launches 
carrying passengers, arrived in Patuakhali from Dhaka in the morning of May 
29.
