KHULNA, Aug 22, 2025 (BSS) - The Khulna Tax Tribunal on Thursday held a public hearing, urging taxpayers to prepare their income tax returns through experienced lawyers to avoid legal complications under the Income Tax Act 2023.

Tribunal members Abul Bashar Akon and Mohammad Zakir Hossain conducted the public hearing, addressing taxpayers' queries and providing guidance.

Khulna's Appeal Commissioner Golam Sarwar Hossain, Tax Commissioner Sheikh Md. Moniruzzaman, senior lawyers M. Shahnawaz Ali, Mohammad Mojibur Rahman and M. Harun-or-Rashid and members of the Income Tax Lawyers' Association, litigants and other stakeholders attended the session.

Tribunal members warned, "Those who file returns through inexperienced computer shops are fully liable, as filing a 'zero return' would leave the taxpayer fully liable. The Act does not recognize any provision for 'zero returns'".

Income Tax Lawyers' Association president Advocate Khan Moniruzzaman highlighted various challenges faced by taxpayers. Judiciary representatives assured that every effort would be made to prevent harassment of taxpayers.

Participants requested speedy disposal of audit, appeal and tribunal cases.

The judges expressed hope that such public hearings would be organized monthly to address taxpayers' concerns.
