CHATTOGRAM, Oct 14, 2025 (BSS) - RAB arrested a youth with fake notes worth TK 20 crore in both domestic and foreign currency from a rented flat at Nurnagar Housing Society at the city around 4 pm today.

The arrestee was identified as Mohammad Tanjim, 20, a resident of Bakalia.

Lt. Col. Md. Hafizur Rahman, commander of RAB-7 confirmed the matter saying that the government strictly prohibits the printing of any form of currency in Bangladesh.

He added that two other individuals involved in producing the fake notes have been taken into custody for questioning.

"The seized counterfeit notes were being sold online. Further investigation is ongoing to identify additional suspects, and more details will be released once the probe is complete," he said.

However, the accused admitted to printing the money at Ankur Printers in Andarkilla for use in film shooting.

"I print each bundle for TK 30 and sell it for TK 600, earning a significant profit. Since these notes are not authorized, they are considered counterfeit," he said.
