NAOGAON, May 31, 2025 (BSS): World No-Tobacco Day was observed today in the district as elsewhere in the country. 

Marking the day, a rally and a discussion meeting were organized by the District Administration in collaboration with the office of Civil Surgeon. 
This year the theme of the day is "Unmask Tobacco Company Tactics Build a Tobacco and Nicotine-Free Bangladesh."

The rally which paraded some main roads of the town and culminated at the Deputy Commissioner's office.
 
Later, a discussion meeting was held in the Deputy Commissioner's conference room.

Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Abdul Awal was present as the chief guest in the event. 

Civil Surgeon Dr. Aminul Islam presided over it.
 
Speakers in the discussion stressed the importance of harmful effects of smoking, saying tobacco consumption injures most organ of the body. 
 
They stressed the need for integrated efforts towards building a tobacco and drug-free society.
