Youth killed in BSF firing at Thakurgaon border

THAKURGAON, July 12, 2025 (BSS)- A Bangladeshi youth named Askar Ali (24) was killed in firing by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) at the Haripur border in Thakurgaon.

The incident took place at around 4 am Saturday at the Minapur border in Haripur upazila.

Askar Ali, was son of Kanu Ali of Jibanpur village of Haripur Union.

According to local sources, Askar Ali crossed the main pillar 353 under the jurisdiction of Minapur BOP.

As BSF members opened fire on him he died on the spot. 

Lt. Col. Tanzir Ahmed, commander of Thakurgaon 50 BGB Battalion, said they have heard about the incident. But area is under the jurisdiction of 42 BGB in Dinajpur.

BGB patrols have been strengthened in the border areas following the incident and the situation is being monitored, he said.
