KHULNA, Aug 4, 2025 (BSS) - Various organizations in Khulna have undertaken a range of programs to observe July Mass Uprising Day on August 5.
The Khulna District Administration will begin the day's events at 9 am with floral tributes at the under-construction July Martyrs' Memorial at Shibbari intersection.
Special prayers will be offered at mosques, temples, churches, pagodas, and other places of worship. Documentaries on the 2024 July Uprising will be screened throughout the day at key city locations including Shibbari intersection, Shaheed Hadis Park, Moylapota, Joragate, Gallamari, Rupsha, and Notun Rasta.
At 3 pm, a reception and open discussion will be held at Shibbari, with participation from the families of martyrs, injured citizens, July fighters, and political leaders.
The Khulna City Corporation (KCC) has also planned various activities. A children's art competition will be held at 9 am at Nagar Bhaban, alongside essay and quiz competitions for school students, followed by prayers, discussions, and prize distributions. KCC Administrator Md. Firoz Sarkar will attend the programmes as chief guest.
A friendly football match between KCC XI and Anti-Discrimination Student XI, originally scheduled for August 4, has been postponed to August 9 at 4 pm at the district stadium.
Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) will also observe the day, beginning with the hoisting of the national flag at the administrative building, VC's residence, and dormitories.
A children's art competition, documentary screening, discussion session and special prayers at the central mosque will follow the event.
Khulna University will bring out a victory procession from the campus to Zero Point, and a cultural program at the cafeteria by student groups.
On August 10 at 3 pm, a special event on the role of journalists in anti-fascist movements will be held at Liaquat Ali Auditorium, organized by the Khulna University Journalists' Association and the Student Affairs Office.
