Fugitive Krishak League leader arrested in Khulna

KHULNA, Aug 4, 2025 (BSS) - Police on Sunday arrested Ashrafuzzaman Babul, president of Khulna district unit of Krishak League, an affiliated organisation of the banned Awami League (AL), from Daulatpur area in the city.

Babul, son of late Imlak Dhali of Deara village under Rupsha upazila and also a Union Parishad member, had been absconding since the July Uprising, police said.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of Detective Branch (DB) of police conducted an operation in Daulatpur area and arrested him in connection with a case filed with Rupsha Police Station, said Khondokar Ahsan Ahmad, Assistant Commissioner (Media) of Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP).

He is accused in several cases and will be produced before a Khulna court with a remand prayer, he added.
