Rangpur pays tribute to July Uprising martyrs

RANGPUR, August 5, 2025 (BSS) - Rangpur city today observed the July Mass Uprising Day with great enthusiasm, reaffirming the commitment to build a discrimination-free Bangladesh, while paying deep tribute to the martyrs of the historic movement. 

To mark the day, members of the martyrs' families placed wreaths at the 'July Martyrs Memorial', built at the site of the old Laksmi Talkies (Laksmi Cinema Hall), opposite the Rangpur Public Library grounds, at 9 am.

Md Mokbul Hossain, father of martyr Abu Sayeed, along with the parents and relatives of other July Uprising martyrs, first placed wreaths at the memorial to pay tribute.

Frontline participants and injured fighters of the July Uprising, including Imran Ahmed, Imtiaz Ahmed Imty and injured fighter Miftahul Jannat Mita, then paid their respects.

Rangpur Divisional Commissioner and Rangpur City Corporation Administrator Md Shahidul Islam, Rangpur Range DIG Md Aminul Islam, Metropolitan Police Commissioner Md Majid Ali, Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Rabiul Faisal, 

Superintendent of Police Md Abu Saim, Regional Information Officer Md Farhad Ahmed and Commander of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-13 also placed wreaths at the memorial.

Heads of different government offices, leaders and activists of BNP, NCP, and other political parties, as well as socio-cultural and professional organizations, also paid tribute to the martyrs.

Subsequently, hundreds of people from all walks of life paid their respects at the memorial to honour the sacrifices of the July Uprising martyrs.
