DHAKA, Aug 5, 2025 (BSS) – Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has announced that the much-anticipated ‘July Charter’ is in its final stage of completion, marking a major milestone in the country's ongoing political reform process.

Delivering a national address marking the ‘July Mass Uprising Day’ today, he said the charter has been shaped through “a long period of continuous discussions” with all major political parties, under the guidance of the National Consensus Commission.

“We have been able to reach our goal in terms of reforms. The July Charter has reached the final stage after tireless dialogue and participation,” he stated.

Describing the charter as a “historic achievement”, the Chief Adviser said it would be remembered not just as a document, but as a democratic process that engaged a broad spectrum of political voices.

“This will be rememberd not only in our national political history but also in the democratic journey of the global community,” he said expressing gratitude to all political leaders and members of the Consensus Commission for their role in the process.

Prof. Yunus recalled that the National Consensus Commission was formed to steer long-term structural reforms.

Over 30 political parties and alliances voluntarily participated, offering recommendations that contributed to the drafting of the July Charter, he added.

“We hope that based on this consensus, political parties will soon sign the July Charter and reach an agreement on its implementation,” he added.

The Chief Adviser expressed the optimism that the charter would pave the way for a smooth and peaceful transfer of power, strengthening the independence and efficiency of accountable-based state institutions, genuine enforcement of civil rights and responsible management of state resources and national capabilities.
