Drama staged in Magura to mark July Uprising Day

MAGURA, Aug 6, 2025 (BSS)- A special theatrical performance titled New Bangladesh, New Dream was staged yesterday evening at the District Auditorium to mark July Uprising Day.

Written and directed by Md Minarul Islam Jewel, the play was performed by the theatre group Anuj Nattyangan with support from the Magura District Council.

Deputy Commissioner Ohidul Islam attended the programme as the chief guest. Superintendent of Police Mina Mahmuda and District Cultural Officer Partha Pratim Dash were also present as special guests. A large audience gathered to enjoy the performance.

Following the play, Deputy Commissioner Ohidul Islam praised the playwright, director, and performers, saying, "We hope to see more high-quality theatrical productions like this staged regularly in Magura." 

Superintendent of Police Mina Mahmuda said, "The depiction of that bloody day in 2024 brought tears to my eyes. It reminded us of the difficult days we have endured."

Cultural activists, local artists, and leaders from various organizations were also present at the event.
