Cleanliness drive in Bagerhat ahead of Youth Day

BAGERHAT, Aug 11, 2025 (BSS) - A massive cleanliness drive was carried out today in Bagerhat to prevent dengue as part of a two-day programme ahead of National and International Youth Day tomorrow.

Bagerhat District Youth Development Department Deputy Director Abdul Quader inaugurated the programme at the Youth Bhaban premises at 10am.

Deputy Programme Coordinator Dewan Mohammad Abuzar, Assistant Director Mizanur Rahman, Assistant Director Md Sohrab Hossain, trainers of various programmes, and leaders of seven youth organizations of the district were present on the occasion.

Around 150 members of Pratyasha Jubo Unnayan Sangstha, Srijani Jubo Unnayan Sangstha, Hunger Project, Supti Jubo Unnayan Sangstha, Cido Bangladesh, Bandhan Jubo Unnayan Sangstha, and Craft Institute and Jubo Unnayan Sangstha took part in the drive.

In addition, 150 more trainees from various institutional training programmes - including computer, electronics, electrical and house wiring, dressmaking, and fisheries - also joined the programme.

Speakers at the event said dengue control is not possible without eliminating mosquito breeding grounds and raising public awareness. They urged youths to come forward and take the lead in such activities.

During the programme, participants cleaned the Youth Bhaban premises and surrounding areas, and distributed awareness messages among locals.
