KHAGRACHHARI, Aug 11, 2025 (BSS) - A seven-day tree plantation campaign and tree fair began today in the district with the slogan of 'Let's do planned afforestation, build a green Bangladesh.'

Deputy Commissioner ABM Iftekharul Islam Khandaker inaugurated the campaign and fair at a function organized by the district administration and Forest Department at the municipal Town Hall premises this morning.

Divisional Forest Officer Md. Farid Miah presided over the function.

District Freedom Fighter Commander Bir Muktijoddha Hemda Ranjan Tripura, Deputy Director of Local Government Department and Municipal Administrator Nazmun Ara Sultana, Additional Deputy Commissioner Ferdousi Begum, Rumana Akhter, Additional Superintendent of Police Sheikh Billal Hossain, District BNP General Secretary MN Absar, District Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islam Professor Syed Abdul Momen, District Council Member Prashant Kumar Tripura and General Secretary of Red Crescent Society Md. Mosharraf Hossain were present, among others. 

Earlier, a colorful rally organized by the district administration was brought out from the Town Hall and ended at the same venue after parading the main streets of the town.

Seedlings of various species of fruits, flowers and forest trees are being displayed in 26 stalls in the fair.
