Three shops fined Tk 55,000 in Meherpur

MEHERPUR, Aug 11, 2025 (BSS)- The Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection (DNCRP), in a drive, today fined three business establishments a total of Taka 55,000 for various irregularities here.
 
Assistant Director (Acting) of the DNCRP district office Mohammad Mamunul Hasan led the operation. 

During the drive, 'Bulbul Mishtanno & Fol Bhandar' was fined Taka 5,000 for not having manufacturing and expiry dates or other necessary information on its product packaging while Messer's Nipa Enterprise was fined Taka 20,000 for operating a gas business without a license and for not having expiry dates on its essential goods and Messer's Haque Traders was fined Taka 30,000 for operating a gas business without a proper license.

The fines were issued as part of a routine inspection and enforcement drive aimed at ensuring consumer rights and fair business practices, Mohammad Mamunul Hasan said, adding: "We conducted the drives to target the businesses selling daily necessities, gas, fertilizers, and pesticides in the area."

Zilla Food Safety Officer (FSO) Reaz Mahmud, Agricultural Marketing Officer Tarikul Islam and a team of the police of the district assist the DNCRP team while conducting the drive.
