RANGPUR, Aug 11, 2025 (BSS) - Divisional Commissioner Md Shahidul Islam has said there is no alternative to sports and physical exercise for the healthy mental development of children.
"Children are our future. We have to pave the way for normal and healthy growth of our children to make them competent and talented citizens for building a prosperous new Bangladesh free from discrimination," he said.
Md Shahidul Islam, also Rangpur City Corporation Administrator, said this today after laying the foundation stone of the construction of the Chikley Children's Park with modern facilities in Sagar Para of the city as the chief guest.
The Chikley Children's Park is being built with the Rangpur City Corporation's own funding to meet the entertainment needs of children, teenagers, and city dwellers and to increase their entertainment facilities. 
The Rangpur City Corporation authority will set up various types of modern and attractive rides for children at the Park. 
Rangpur City Corporation Chief Executive Officer Umme Fatima, Secretary Jayshree Rani Roy, Chief Property Officer Mousumi Afrida, Chief Revenue Officer Tanjila Tasnim, Superintending Engineer Md Azom Ali, Urban Planner Md Nazrul Islam, among others were present at the ceremony.
