RAJSHAHI, Aug 12, 2025 (BSS) - Speakers at a meeting here today unanimously viewed that the country will go ahead successfully through the youths' power as many of them have transformed themselves into successful entrepreneurs.
The youths freed the country from the prolonged regime of the fascist Awami League through their July mass upsurge on August 5, 2024. So, youths' power should be given priority in nation-building activities.
Government officials and youth entrepreneurs came up with the observation while addressing a post-rally discussion to mark National and International Youth Day-2025 at the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner's (DC) office here today.
The District Administration and the Department of Youth Development (DYD) jointly organized the event, where a large number of youth entrepreneurs, volunteers and others attended.
The theme of the day, "Technology-based Youth Force, Progress in Multilateral Partnership," has become very timely, highlighting the important role of youth in building a more sustainable, equitable and innovative Bangladesh.
Additional Commissioner of Rajshahi division Rezaul Alam Sarker and Superintendent of Police Farzana Islam addressed the discussion as chief and special guests respectively, with DC Afia Akhter in the chair.
DYD Deputy Director ATM Golam Mahbub welcomed the participants.
Successful entrepreneur Ripa Khatun and successful organizer Zakir Hossain illustrated their respective success stories.
On the occasion, three successful youths were given crests as recognition of their laudable contribution in this field and 14 others were given bank cheques for loans to make their businesses more vibrant.
The meeting was told that the DYD organized programs focused on empowering youth through skill development training and providing access to loans for young entrepreneurs.
Self-employment opportunities are being created by providing small loans to trained youth without collateral, said DYD Deputy Director Golam Mahbub, adding that the ceiling of youth loans has been increased at all levels.
In addition to providing job-oriented and up-to-date training to the youth, the government is also very sincere in increasing employment opportunities abroad, he added.
