Illegal brick kiln chimney demolished in Rangunia

CHATTOGRAM, Aug 27, 2025 (BSS) - The administration today demolished the chimney of an illegal brick kiln named M/s Al Medina Bricks in Rangunia upazila of the district.

The eviction drive was carried out following a verdict by the Environment Court in a case filed by the Department of Environment (DoE).

Rangunia Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) and Executive Magistrate Md Kamrul Hasan led the drive. Deputy Director of the District Environment Office Md Mozahidur Rahman, Research Officer Md Ashraf, members of police, and local public representatives were present during the operation.

UNO Kamrul Hasan said, "The drive has been conducted in line with the verdict of the Environment Court. Any activity harmful to the environment and public health will not be tolerated."

As part of the operation, the 120-foot-high fixed chimney and kiln of the illegal brick kiln were demolished, Department of Environment (DoE) sources said.
