One held in attempted rape case in Khulna

KHULNA, Aug 27, 2025 (BSS) - Police have arrested a controversial religious 
leader today from the premises of Jielatala Mahamaya Ashram in connection 
with an attempted rape case involving a 15-year-old girl.

The arrested was Narayan Chandra Roy, widely known as Narayan Gosai, 60, son 
of late Horipada Roy of Jieltala village in Dumuria upazila of the district. 

Md Masud Rana, officer-in-charge (OC) of Dumuria police station, said Naryan 
Gosai allegedly tried to force himself on the teenage girl, who was asleep, 
in a devotee's house in Kadamtala village under the upazila where he attended 
a religious ceremony and stayed there overnight on July 16 last.

"Following a complaint lodged by the girl's father on August 26 (Tuesday), 
police conducted a raid at the ashram and arrested Gosai this morning," the 
OC said, adding that the arrested has been sent to jail through the court.
