KHULNA, Sept 7, 2025 (BSS) – Forest officials have arrested three fishermen for entering the Sundarbans without a valid permit at the Kobadak Forest Station under Satkhira Range of the Sundarbans West Forest Division.

The detainees were identified as Robiul, 42, and Abul Bashar, 35, of Napti Khali village, and Md Isa, 42, of Saphkhali village in Shyamnagar upazila of Satkhira district.

Sheikh Md Anisur Rahman, officer of the Kobadak Forest Station, said during a regular patrol in the Arapangashia River area, a boat was spotted from a distance around 9pm.
“On approaching the boat, we asked them to show their entry permit, but they failed to produce it. We then took them into custody,” he added.

Authorities seized 35 kilograms of crabs, a small dinghy boat and crab-catching equipment from their possession.

A case was filed under the Forest Act and the accused were produced before the Koyra Senior Magistrate Court.
Following a court order, they were sent to jail.

The seized crabs were released back into the river with court approval, the forest officer said.
