Durga Puja to be celebrated at 156 mandaps in Dinajpur border area

DINAJPUR, Sept 23, 2025 (BSS) – Sharadiya Durga Puja, one of the largest religious festivals of Hindu community, will be celebrated at 156 puja mandaps in the border area in Dinajpur.

Dinajpur BGB Sector Commander Colonel Md. Ariful Islam confirmed this and said that there are three Border Guard Battalions under the Dinajpur BGB sector. 

As per the rules, the government has deployed BGB members to maintain law and order within eight kilometers of the border area. This year, three BGB battalions will be responsible for maintaining law and order at 156 puja mandaps in the areas.

Tight security measures have been taken to ensure that the Hindu community  people living in the border area peacefully celebrates their religious festival, he said. 

He also said that under the Dinajpur sector, Durga Puja preparations have been completed at a total of 156 mandap, including 61 in Dinajpur Border Guard Battalion, 39 in the Phulbari Border Guard Battalion area, and 56 in the Joypurhat Border Battalion area. 

23 platoon BGB members have been deployed for security at these puja mandap from September 25 to October 3.
