LALMONIRHAT, Sept 24, 2025 (BSS) - Export and import activities through Burimari Land Port in the district will remain suspended for eight consecutive days-from September 27 to October 4-on the occasion of Sharadiya Durga Puja, the largest religious festival of the Hindu community.

However, passenger movement through the port with valid passports will continue as usual during this period, said a letter signed by A.S.M. Niaz Nahid, General Secretary of Burimari Customs Clearing and Forwarding (C&F) Agents Association this morning.

Although trade operations will be halted, the customs office at the land port will remain operational, officials confirmed.

The Changrabandha Exporters Association of Cooch Behar in India has issued a letter to the Burimari C&F Agents Association, officially announcing the eight-day suspension of export-import activities through the port in observance of Durga Puja.

Following the Indian association's notification, the Burimari C&F Agents Association has also issued a letter confirming the closure of trade activities from September 27 to October 4. Copies of the letter have been sent to all relevant departments at the land port.

Authorities at the Burimari Land Customs Station and land port management have confirmed receipt of the closure notice.

Sub-Inspector (SI) Ashraful Islam of the Burimari Immigration Police said the immigration checkpoint and routine security patrols at the port will continue to operate, ensuring normal movement for passport-holding passengers.

Assistant Commissioner (AC) of Burimari Land Customs Station Delwar Hossain said, "We have received a letter from the traders at India's Changrabandha Land Customs Station stating that trade operations will be suspended for eight days on the occasion of Durga Puja."
