Woman day laborer's body recovered in Khulna, 4 held

KHULNA, Sept 24, 2025 (BSS) - Police have recovered the throat-slit body of a woman day laborer from an under-construction building in Khulna city and arrested four suspects in connection with the killing.

The deceased was identified as Monwara Begum Supti, 43, a resident of Shovna union in Dumuria upazila in Khulna. She had been living in a rented house at Mostar Mor in the city.

Police discovered her decomposed body in a bathroom of a building in the KDA Moyuri Residential Area around 11:30 am Tuesday and they arrested four suspects in this connection, police said here today. 

The arrested are Yusuf, Humayun Kabir, Johora, and Shilpi.

According to police and locals, law enforcers were conducting an operation in the area to arrest Yusuf, a fugitive accused in multiple drug cases. 

While searching nearby houses, police detected a strong stench and found the body. Later, Yusuf and his associates were detained and reportedly confessed to the crime.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Harintana Police Station Touhidur Rahman said the motive is not yet confirmed, but the woman may have been killed over money or after resisting sexual assault.

Shah Jamal Sardar Soaal, the victim's son, filed a case against the accused with Harintana Police Station in this connection.
