Youth held with Tk 5 lakh counterfeit notes in Khulna

KHULNA, Sept 24, 2025(BSS)- Police arrested a youth with counterfeit currency worth Taka 5.07 lakh in Khulna city last night.

The arrested was identified as Md. Abdullah alias Nayon, 30, son of Md. Motaleb Hossain, a resident of Bongobashi Road under Khalishpur Police Station in the city.

Based on secret information, a special team led by Inspector Taimur Islam conducted a raid in Nayon's residence around 2:30 am and recovered the counterfeit notes from his bedroom.

The police team also detained Nayon in this connection during the raid.

Abdullah, during primary interrogation, admitted that he had long been operating the illegal trade in Khulna and other parts of the country.

Confirming the arrest, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Metropolitan Detective Police Nazmul Hasan Rajib said Abdullah was involved in fake currency trading since long.
 
A case was filed with Khalishpur Police Station in this connection today, he said.
