Two held with 200-kg ganja in Madaripur

MADARIPUR, Sept 27, 2025 (BSS) - Police, in a drive, arrested two drug 
peddlers and recovered 200 kilograms of ganja from Uttar Jhikarhati village 
of Ghatmaji union in Sadar upazila here early this morning.

The arrested men were Nannu Dorji, 62, and Nuru Dorji, 42, residents of the 
area.

On a tip-off, a police team conducted a drive at the house of Nannu Dorji of 
the village around 1.30 am and recovered 50 packets of ganja kept in nine 
sacks, weighing 200-kg, said Additional Superintendent of Police Jahangir 
Alam at a press conference this afternoon.

The drug trafficking gang has been selling drugs in Uttar Jhikarhati village 
of Ghatmaji union in Sadar upazila for a long time, he said. 

The estimated market value of the ganja is about Taka 40 lakh.

At that time, the accused Enamul Dorji, 42, and Suman Dorji, 35, fled after 
sensing the presence of the police. 

Nine cases were pending against Enamul Dorji. There are several drug-related 
cases against the other accused. 

A case was filed with Sadar Model Police Station in this connection.
