MAGURA, 29 Sept 2025 (BSS) - A teenage student went missing after falling into the Nabaganga River in the Notun Bridge area adjacent to Parnanduali Dhaka Road in Magura. His name is Deepta (16 years old). He went missing after falling into the Nabaganga River at around 7:30 pm on Sunday (September 28).

Dipto was a student of Magura Government Boys' High School. His home is in the Maternity Para area on the outskirts of the town. His father, Ferdous Hossain Shiplu, is an expatriate in Canada.

Resident of Parnanduali village, Wajiuallah Rumi, said that earlier in the evening, Dipto came to the bridge area with two of his friends. While taking selfies and recording TikTok videos, he suddenly slipped and fell into the river, hitting the bridge gate structure. By 9 pm, there was still no trace of him.

Locals complained that frequent accidents occur in this area due to the absence of electric lights near the bridge. About one and a half months ago, a child also went missing after falling into the river at the same spot. The child's body was recovered a day later from the Barunatail ferry ghat.

The family members of the missing person said that the rescue work has not started yet, as there are no divers in Magura.

Sadar Police Station OC Ayub Ali said, We visited the area adjacent to the bridge after hearing the incident. The divers have already been informed. The rescue work will start when the divers arrive.
