46,698 Ansar-VDP deployed for Durga Puja in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, Sept 28, 2025 (BSS) – Rangpur Range of Bangladesh Ansar and VDP has taken extensive security measures by deploying 46,698 trained members to ensure the smooth celebration of Durga Puja in Rangpur division. 

The Ansar-VDP members are engaged in maintaining law and order in 5,343 puja mandaps across all eight districts of Rangpur division under Rangpur Range for nine consecutive days from September 24 to October 2. 

Under the direction of Mohammad Abdul Awal, Deputy Director General of Ansar-VDP Rangpur Range, the district commandants have selected members according to the risk level of each puja mandap and distributed the responsibilities. 

An official of the Ansar-VDP Rangpur Range said that eight Ansar-VDP members are deployed at each risky mandap and six at each low-risk and general mandap. 

The district-wise breakup of the deployed Ansar-VDP personnel is: 7,648 in 907 mandaps in Rangpur, 4,644 in 525 mandaps in Kurigram, 4,236 in 468 mandaps in Lalmonirhat, 4,948 in 577 mandaps in Gaibandha, 7,042 in 841 mandaps in Nilphamari, 11,056 in 1,259 mandaps in Dinajpur, 4,436 in 468 mandaps in Thakurgaon, and 2,688 in 298 mandaps in Panchagarh. 

Earlier, Rangpur Range Ansar-VDP Deputy Director General Mohammad Abdul Awal briefed the members of the law enforcement agencies on the overall security situation on the occasion of Durga Puja. 

He said that the members have been given pre-deployment guidelines on what to do while performing their duties at the puja mandaps. 

Ansar-VDP members will assist visitors in moving and visiting the puja mandaps in a well-ordered manner at all times. 

“The battalion Ansars will serve as a striking force in times of emergency,” he said, adding that the officers will regularly inspect and supervise the duty.
