DHAKA, Sept 29, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) has reduced the fees for its calibration services.
The fees for calibration services provided by six internationally accredited laboratories under the National Metrology Laboratory (NML-BSTI) have recently been reduced following the decision of BSTI's 41st Council meeting, said a BSTI press release today.
The decision was taken to meet the long-standing demands of service recipients and to encourage the production of quality products in the industrial sector.
As a result, industrial factories, educational and research institutions, testing and calibration laboratories, government and private hospitals and diagnostic centers, LPG and LNG bottling plants, and other organizations can now have their equipment calibrated at internationally recognized standards at less than half the previous cost, it added.
Currently, equipment such as weights and measures from the Mass Measurement Laboratory, meter scales, measuring tapes, micrometers, vernier calipers, thickness gauges, and gauge blocks from the Length and Dimension Laboratory, volumetric measures, glassware, and micropipettes from the Volume Measurement Laboratory, thermometers, ovens, furnaces, autoclaves, incubators, hygrometers, and dataloggers from the Temperature Measurement Laboratory, pressure gauges and blood pressure machines from the Force and Pressure Laboratory, and various electrical instruments such as stopwatches, timers, AC/DC voltage and current meters, resistance, ohmmeters, capacitance meters, wattmeters, and clamp meters from the Electrical, Time and Frequency Laboratory can now be tested easily and at affordable rates.
BSTI said that the reduction in calibration fees will further encourage industries, research institutions, and service providers across the country to avail internationally accredited calibration services.
This will enhance the quality of locally produced goods, increase competitiveness in export markets, and strengthen consumer protection, it hoped.
