CHITTAGONG, Oct 1, 2025 (BSS) – The Moha Nobomi Puja was celebrated in the city and various upazilas of the district with great joy and enthusiasm.

During the Durga Puja festival, the city and district were filled with Hindu devotees visiting puja pandals and temples.

On Moha Nobomi, the day before the immersion of the goddess, festivities peak with devotees thronging various puja pandals throughout the day. To gain wealth, some puja committees recommend performing sacrifices, chanting, and offering oblations on Nabomi Tithi.

The ‘Maha Nabomi’ puja was performed according to scriptural rules in family settings, including Chattogram Ramakrishna Mission Sevashram, Chatteshwari Kali Mandir, JM Sen Hall Puja Mandap, and Kaivalya Dham.

Security has been strengthened at the mandaps in the port city and different upazilas of the district to ensure a smooth Durga Puja celebration.

Police personnel have been deployed across various upazilas in Chattogram to maintain law and order.

According to official sources, a total of 2,494 puja mandaps, including 292 in the city, have been set up this year in 15 upazilas of the district.
Leaders of different political parties, regardless of religion, caste, or creed, also visited puja pandals to exchange greetings and pleasantries with the community.

As part of the rituals on the last day of the celebration, Nobomi Vhog (feast) was offered to the goddess by devotees.

The five-day festival, celebrating the arrival of Goddess Durga on earth, will end tomorrow with the immersion of the goddess.
