Re-excavation of Moulvikandi canal commences in Shariatpur

SHARIATPUR, April 3, 2026 (BSS) - The re-excavation work of the 4.5-kilometre-long Moulvikhkandi canal in Sadar Upazila of Shariatpur district commenced today.

The programme was inaugurated at Binodpur area around 12 noon by Shariatpur-1 MP and district BNP Organising Secretary Sayeed Ahmed Aslam.

Executive Engineer of the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) of the district Rafiul Islam, Sadar Upazila Engineer Anisur Rahman, district BNP Vice-President Sirajul Haque Molla, Joint Secretary Dulal Khan, and Sadar Upazila BNP General Secretary Mahbub Arshad Tipu, among others, attended the event.

The re-excavation project is being implemented by the LGED to improve drainage and water management in the area.
