College student dies from snake bite in Sadullapur

GAIBANDHA, Oct 8, 2025 (BSS) - A 19-year-old college student died this early morning after being bitten by a venomous snake in Konapara village, under Edilpur Union of Sadullapur upazila of the district.

The victim, Enamul Haque, was the son of Hafizur Rahman and a first-year intermediate student at Dhaperhat Moni Krishna Degree College.

According to family sources, Enamul had gone to a nearby wetland around 3:00am to catch indigenous fish using a traditional trap known locally as Thushi or Darki. While setting the trap, he was bitten by a poisonous snake and became critically ill.

Hearing his screams, family members rushed to the spot and took him to the Pirganganj Upazila Health Complex, where he received first aid. Doctors there advised immediate transfer to Rangpur Medical College Hospital (RMCH) for further treatment.

Unfortunately, Enamul passed away on the way to RMCH around 6:00am.

His sudden and tragic death has cast a pall of grief over the entire area.
