DINAJPUR, Oct 9, 2025 (BSS) – A total of 5,185 metric tons of green chillies have been imported from India in 662 trucks through Dinajpur Hili Land Port in the last four months.

Revenue of Taka 19.13 crore has been collected from import of chillies, Dinajpur Hili Land Port Customs Department Revenue Officer Md. Nizam Uddin confirmed to BSS this evening.

He said, “From July to October 8 of the current fiscal year, 5,185 metric tons of green chillies have been imported from India in 662 trucks through Hili Land Port and revenue of about Taka 19.13 crore has been collected from the imported chillies.”

"As green chilli is a perishable item, we have quickly completed all the customs procedures and released the product on time. After unloading the daily imported green chillies from the truck at the Hili Land Port, traders sent those to different districts of the country,” he added.

Import and export of other products at the port is normal. It is expected that the Hili land port customs department is working relentlessly to implement the additional revenue collection target set for the period, Nizam Uddin said.

Dinajpur Land Port Import Exporters Association President Md. Sakhawat Hossain Shilpi said that the import of green chilli is going on with the permission of the Ministry of Commerce.
