JHENAIDAH, Oct 21, 2025 (BSS) - A truck helper was killed when a passenger bus rammed a roadside truck from behind in the Char Mile area on Jhenaidah-Magura Highway in Sadar upazila of the district early today, leaving five others injured.

The deceased, Alimul Islam, was a resident of Narail Sadar upazila.

Eyewitnesses and police said a truck carrying paddy had broken down and was being repaired by the roadside when a bus of Mamun Paribahan, coming from Brahmanbaria to Chaugachha in Jashore, lost control and hit the stationary truck from behind.

Alimul Islam died on the spot, while five others, including the drivers of the two vehicles and passengers, sustained injuries.

The police later recovered and sent the body of the deceased to Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital morgue.

Hamidur Rahman Belal, on duty medical officer at the emergency department of the Sadar Hospital, said the body of the deceased was kept at the hospital morgue, while the injured received treatment, with two of them in serious condition.

Mrittunjoy Bishwas, Officer-in-Charge of Jhenaidah Arappur Highway Police Station, said fog and over-speeding are believed to be the reasons behind the accident.
