NETROKONA, Oct 21, 2025 (BSS) - A bamboo bridge which was constructed on the
Mahadeo River at the bordering Kalmakanda upazila of the district has reduced
the hardships of several thousand people.
People of the area were suffering a lot in absence of a bridge over the
Mahadeo River, which flows down from the upstream, in Kalmakanda upazila
here.
The bridge was formally inaugurated today.
The 160-feet long and 6-feet length bridge was constructed with the
initiative of Legal Affairs Secretary of BNP Central Executive Committee
Barrister Kaisar Kamal.
The people of seven villages of Rangchati union under Kalmakanda upazila have
expressed their smiles of relief due to the construction of the bridge.
Nearly 4000 to 5000 people of adjacent seven villages including Daiarkanda,
Kristapur, Baluchanda, Santinagar were immensely suffering before the
construction of the bridge. Everyday people had been crossing the river with
heavy risk and particularly the movement of students was very dangerous.
Barrister Kaiser Kamal has taken the initiative voluntarily to construct the
bridge. The construction work has been completed within several days with the
support of the local leaders and villagers.
Rangchati Union Council Chairman Anisur Rahman said "It's our long cherished
demand to have a bridge on the Mahadeo River here. Day after day we had lost
our hope. But, finally local BNP leader Kaiser Kamal extended his hand and
assisted to construct the bridge here."
