RAB arrests main accused in Rangpur widow murder

RANGPUR, Oct 22, 2025 (BSS) - Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-13 arrested the main accused in the murder case of a widow of Gangachara upazila in Rangpur by poisoning from Nilphamari district on Tuesday night.
 
The arrested was identified as Shree Kamal Chandra Adhikari, 28, son of Shree Manoranjan Chandra Adhikari of village Manaksha under Gangachara model police station of Rangpur, a press release said today.
 
Quoting the complaint filed by the plaintiff, the release said that after the husband of the victim Krishna Rani of the village was killed in a road accident, she was supposed to be given a registry deed of 40 decimals of her husband's share of land. 
 
Consequently, the arrested accused man along with other accused prisons skilfully applied poison to the victim's body through injecting saline and killed her on the night of July 6, 2025. 
 
Later, the victim's father filed a murder case with Gangachara model police station of Rangpur on July 7, 2025. 
 
Based on secret information, the elite force in a raid arrested the main accused Shree Kamal Chandra Adhikari from Paschim Doliram village of Kishoreganj police station in Nilphamari district at 10:05 pm yesterday.
 
The arrested accused has been handed over to Gangachara model police station for further legal action.
