NETROKONA, Nov 4, 2025 (BSS) - The idea titled "Bringing the July Revolution to the People in Remote Areas", which won first place in the Nationwide Idea Competition 2025, has been successfully implemented in the district to honor 17 martyrs of the district through a series of community-focused initiatives.
Developed by Team July, the project aimed to preserve the memory of the martyrs and raise public awareness about the 2024 July Uprising. It was carried out under the supervision of the District Council and the Local Government Department.
The initiative included three major activities: organizing prayer mahfils at local mosques seeking eternal peace for the martyrs, providing support to underprivileged and orphaned students -- particularly from madrasa backgrounds -- with contributions from martyrs' families, and renaming streets across the district in memory of the fallen heroes, accompanied by memorial plaques and nameplates.
These activities were implemented throughout July and August 2025, culminating in a nationwide exhibition on August 5, where Netrokona's project was presented as one of the standout community initiatives.
To further mark the occasion, a youth festival was held, and 17 trees were planted at the BADC farm in the district town -- each symbolizing a martyr of the July Revolution.
A detailed report documenting the implementation process was officially released by Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Abdullah Al Mahmud Zaman at a ceremony held at the DC's conference room on Tuesday. The report is now publicly accessible for residents and officials to review and reflect on the district's contribution to preserving its revolutionary heritage.
The ceremony was attended by Superintendent of Police Mirza Sayem Mahmud, Deputy Director of Local Government Md. Ariful Islam Sardar, Chief Executive Officer of Zila Parishad Shah Md. Kamrul Huda and senior district officials, along with 14 young organizers and members of the District Idea Implementation Committee.
