8-foot python caught in fishing trap in Chattogram's Boalkhali

CHATTOGRAM (South), Nov 6, 2025 (BSS) - An eight-foot-long python was caught in fishing net set in a wetland at Boalkhali upazila of the district on Wednesday afternoon.

The python got trapped in a fishing net set at a wetland of Talukdar Para under Koraldenga union of the upazila.

Upon receiving the information, Amir Hossain Shaon, a member of the Wildlife and Snake Rescue Team, promptly arrived at the scene and safely freed the reptile.

Shaon said the python was identified as a Burmese python, measuring approximately eight feet in length and weighing around nine kilograms.

He added that the rescued python will be handed over to the Forest Department for proper release back into the wild after necessary consultation.
