5 accused arrested in Munshiganj auto driver murder case

MUNSHIGANJ, Nov 6, 2025 (BSS) - Police have arrested five individuals in connection with the brutal murder of auto rickshaw driver Md. Mujibar Majhi, 44, from different areas of the district.

The accused have been identified as Sohag Molla, 43, son of Siraj Molla, Iqbal Hossain Joy, 31, son of Ripon Sheikh, residents of Sakhari Bazar, Harun, 51, son of Manik Sardar of Malir Pathar, Ali Hossain, 40, son of Awlad Hossain of Ramshing in Sadar upazila and Imran, 30, son of Monir Hossain of Satkhari village in Tongibari upazila.

After the investigation, police revealed the involvement of the five individuals in the murder.

On October 31, Mujibar had left the garage for a trip to Mawa in the Padma Bridge area and did not return.

Three days later, on November 3, the body of Mujibar was discovered in a boat in the Ratanpur area of Sadar upazila. 

On Wednesday, police arrested Sohag Molla, Iqbal Hossain Joy and Imran based on secret information, and during their interrogation, they confessed to their involvement in the murder. Harun Or Rashid and Ali Hossain were later arrested, a press release said.

Sadar Police Station's Inspector (Investigation), Sajib Dey, said that the investigation is ongoing; further updates will be provided as they become available.
