Second division cricket league begins in Khulna

KHULNA, Nov 6, 2025 (BSS)-The Second Division Cricket League, organized by the Khulna District Sports Association begun on Wednesday (yesterday) at the Khulna District Stadium.

Khulna Deputy Commissioner and Convener of the District Sports Association Md. ToufiqurRahman formally inaugurated the league as the chief guest. 

Superintendent of Police in Khulna T.M. MosharrafHossain and Bangladesh Cricket Board Director Md. Zulfiqar Ali Khan attended the ceremony as special guests. 

SM ZakirHossain, Chairman of the Second Division Cricket League Management Committee, presided over the event.

Among others, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) NurulHai Mohammad Anas, District Sports Officer and Member Secretary of the District Sports Association Md. Alimuzzaman, members of the association MollaKhairul Islam, Shah AsifHossainRinku, Md. Saiful Islam, ShahinazKhatun, BCB District Coach ShamsulAlamRony, and club officials EkramulKabir Minton and A.J.S. Ohidul Islam Selim were present. 

In the inaugural match, Barnamala Sporting Club batted first and scored 228 runs for 7 wickets in 47 overs. 

In reply, Young Boys Club was all out for 73 runs in 21 overs. For Barnamala Sporting Club, Sakib Hossain scored an unbeaten 57 while Faisal Jahan added 41. 

For Young Boys, Al Mamun took 2 wickets for 24 runs. Al Mamun was also the top scorer for his side with 15 runs. Abu Raihan of Barnamala Sporting Club took 4 wickets for 20 runs.
