DHAKA, Nov 06, 2025 (BSS) - The High Court (HC) today allowed bail to former minister Abdul Latif Siddique and journalist Monjurul Alam Panna in a case filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act.

A High Court division bench of Justice ASM Abdul Mobin and Justice Md Sagir Hossain passed the order after holding a hearing on a plea filed in this connection.

Senior advocate ZI Khan Panna moved the plea before the court, while Assistant Attorney General Ibrahim Khalil stood for the state. The state counsel said they would move to the apex court against this order.

The court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Sarah Farzana Haque on August 29, 2025, sent 16 people, including Abdul Latif Siddique, to jail in the case.

Police detained the 16 on August 28 after they went to attend a discussion organised by Mancha 71, which claims itself a platform for Freedom Fighters, at the Dhaka Reporters' Unity (DRU). A group of people surrounded and heckled them, accusing them of being loyalists of the Awami League.

Police later showed them arrested in the case, which accuses them of plotting to topple the current interim government.
