Factory fined for producing fake cosmetics in Chandpur

CHANDPUR, Nov 6, 2025 (BSS) - The Department of Consumer Rights Protection has fined a cosmetic factory Taka 50,000 in the district town for manufacturing counterfeit foreign brand soap and shampoo.

A team led by Abdullah Al Imran, Assistant Director of the department, conducted a raid at a cosmetic factory in the BSCIC Industrial area of the town on Wednesday evening.

During the operation, the authorities found that JS Consumer and Nutri Care Limited, owned by Jasim Uddin, was producing fake branded soap and shampoo. 

The factory owner was fined under the Consumer Rights Protection Act and pledged not to engage in such illegal activities again.

Following the drive, the fake products were seized and destroyed.

Md. Shahriar Khan, Assistant General Manager of BSCIC, along with members of the joint forces, provided overall assistance during the operation.

Officials said that similar drives would continue to protect consumers and ensure fair business practices.
