Foreign cigarettes, banned creams seized at Ctg Airport

CHATTOGRAM, Nov 8, 2025 (BSS)- National Security Intelligence (NSI) and customs detectives, in a joint drive, seized a large amount of foreign cigarettes, prohibited imported creams, mobile phones and laptop worth around Taka 41 lakh at Shah Amanat International Airport here today. 

Acting on a tip-off, members of the National Security Intelligence (NSI) with the assistance of customs detectives intercepted a passenger, who arrived in the country on Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight BG-148 from Dubai, and recovered the banned items after searching his belongings.

Engineer Mohammad Ibrahim Khalil, public relations officer (PRO) of the airport, told BSS that the passenger Mohammad Gias Uddin was searched upon arrival at 9:40 am. 

During the search, authorities found five cartons of foreign-made cigarettes, six mobile phones, 12 banned beauty creams and one laptop from his possession. 

"The estimated market value of the seized goods is Taka 4,107,000 and authorities have collected revenue of Taka 87,000 from him," he said, adding that the passenger was released with a warning after the incident as it was his first offense.
