PATUAKHALI, Nov 8, 2025 (BSS) – Training Affairs Secretary of the central executive committee of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), ABM Mosharraf Hossain has said that the BNP will take necessary measures to make Payra Port economically viable.

“No required measure was taken to make Payra Port economically efficient after establishing it at Kalapara in Patuakhali. BNP will take necessary initiatives to this end,” he said.

He made the remarks while inaugurating the office of the Television Journalists Forum at Kalapara on Friday evening.

Stating that no goods except coal are currently imported through Payra Port, the BNP leader said that investment and employment opportunities would have increased if the Export Processing Zone (EPZ) had been set up in Kalapara.

Hossain also said there is no planned investment by the tourism corporation in Kuakata to transform it into a tourism hub.

“If BNP is voted to power, it will transform Kuakata into a tourist hub with planned investment. Gas connections will be given to establish industries there,” he said.

Television Journalists Forum Convenor Mohsin Parvez presided over the view-exchange meeting, while Kalapara Upazila BNP President Hazi Humayun Sikder and Poura BNP President Gazi Md. Faruk were present as special guests.

Leaders and activists of Kalapara Upazila BNP and members of the Television Journalists Forum were also present at the event.
