RAJSHAHI, Nov 16, 2025 (BSS) – Speakers at a roundtable discussion unanimously viewed that women’s participation has become crucial for building a new, happy and discrimination-free Bangladesh.

Utmost emphasis should be given to ensuring the political empowerment of women, equality in education, workplace security and an active role in social development for building a new Bangladesh.

Sammilita Nagorik Committee (SNC) organized the meeting titled “Women Participation in Building New Bangladesh: Reality and Way Forward” at the River View Hotel here today.

Convener of the BNP Media Cell Prof Dr Moudud Hossain Alamgir Pavel addressed the meeting as the chief guest, while SNC Convener Prof Rafiqul Islam chaired it.

Vice-Chancellor of Naogaon University Prof Hasanat Ali, BNP Media Cell Member Mahmuda Habiba and local BNP leader Advocate Shafiqul Haque Milon also spoke.

Prof Moudud Hossain Alamgir said sexual harassment, financial problems, infrastructural discrimination and family responsibilities are acting as obstacles to women’s advancement.

Education, technological competence development and financial self-reliance for women have become urgent needs to face these challenges.

He also said that women are working relentlessly in different fields, including readymade garments, agriculture, tea gardens, construction and other service sectors, but unfortunately they are facing wage disparities and security issues.

In his remarks, Prof Hasanat Ali said men–women equal participation must be ensured for the sustainable development of the country.

He also discussed work-oriented training, a safe working environment, a discrimination-free society and the establishment of good governance for the sake of women’s empowerment.
