BDRCS Bagerhat unit forms new committee

BAGERHAT, Nov 21, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Red Crescent Society Bagerhat Unit has formed a new committee after 20 years, following peaceful elections held on Thursday.

Professor Sheikh Mostahidul Alam Robi, former Vice Principal of Government PC College, was elected Vice President, while BNP leader Mahbubur Rahman Tutul was elected Secretary in the direct vote of life members.

Bagerhat Deputy Commissioner and Returning Officer Golam Md. Baten officially announced the results. Voting was conducted smoothly from 8 am to 4 pm, with 780 out of over 2,700 life members casting ballots.

Eleven candidates contested for five executive member positions. 

The elected members are SM Mahabub Morshed Lalon (Government Counsel, District Judge Court), Nargis Akhter Eva (General Secretary, Women's Party), Rehana Parvin Lucky (Executive Director, Shapla Phul), Farukuzzaman Bappi, and former Red Crescent Youth Chief Md. Al Amin Sardar.

The Bagerhat Unit last held elections in 2006.
