One held with gold bar worth Tk 70 lakh in Jashore

JASHORE, Dec 1, 2025 (BSS) - Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) 
arrested an alleged smuggler with a gold bar worth around Taka 70 lakh from 
Baulia Bazar in Sadar upazila here this morning.

The arrested was Md. Imran Hossain, 42, son of Ibrahim Hossain hailing from 
Satkhira district. 

On a tip-off, a BGB patrol team conducted a drive in the area around 11.30 am 
and arrested Imran. Later, a gold bar weighing 384.38 grams hidden in a 
special way in his waist was recovered, said Jashore BGB-49 Battalion 
Commander Lieutenant Colonel Saifullah Siddiqui. 

During initial interrogation, Imran Hossain said he collected the gold bar 
from smugglers in the Malibagh area of Dhaka and was heading towards the 
Satkhira border to smuggle it to India. 

A case was filed with Jashore Kotwali Police Station in this connection, the 
BGB captain said.
