
FENI, Dec 6, 2025 (BSS) - Feni Liberation Day was celebrated today with various programmes, marking the historic day in 1971 when the district was freed from Pakistani occupation forces.
The day began with the placing of wreaths at the Liberation War Memorial in the city at 10 am by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Monira Haque and Superintendent of Police (SP) Md. Shafiqul Islam.
Officials from the District Civil Surgeon’s Office, District Council, Local Government Engineering Department, Muktijoddha Sangsad, Municipal Administration, Feni Government College, Sadar Upazila Administration, BNP Chairperson’s Advisor Professor Joynal Abedin VP, and District Muktijoddha Sontan Command, among others, also paid tributes.
Following the floral tributes, a colorful rally organized by the district administration started from the Liberation War Memorial and parading through Jail Road, concluding at the town’s central Shaheed Minar.
A discussion meeting was held at the DC office at 10:30 am, chaired by DC Monira Haque.
Speakers included SP Md. Shafiqul Islam, District Civil Surgeon Dr. Rubaiyat Bin Karim, BNP Leader Joynal Abedin VP, District Jamaat Ameer Mufti Abdul Hannan, NCP Member Secretary Shah Wali Ullah Manik, AB Party Central Member Engineer Shah Alam Badal, Hefazat-e-Islam District Secretary Maulana Omar Faruk, District Muktijoddha Sangsad Feni Unit Convener Abu Naser Chowdhury, Islamic Andolon District Secretary Maulana Ekramul Haque Bhuiyan, Khilafat Majlish District President Maulana Muzaffar Ahmed Jafri.
DC Monira Haque said, “Today is an important day for the people of Feni. We pay tribute to those who fought and led from the front. Our freedom came at the cost of immense sacrifice, and we must uphold it..”
The day was observed with enthusiasm, respect, and renewed commitment to the spirit of the Liberation War.
