Two burnt to death in Ctg fire

CHATTOGRAM, Dec 24, 2025 (BSS) - A fire that broke out at Kaderia Para village in Rangunia upazila of the district this morning killed a woman and her granddaughter.

The deceased were identified as Rumi Akter, 55, wife of Ruhul Amin, and her five-year-old granddaughter, Zannat Akter.

Zahedur Rahman, an official of Rangunia Fire Service and Civil Defence, said the fire is suspected to have originated from an electrical short circuit at a house around 8:00am and quickly spread to adjoining houses.

Almost all the inhabitants were asleep when the fire engulfed their homes, but everyone except the victims managed to escape from the burning dwellings.

Firefighters brought the blaze under control after about an hour of efforts.

Officer-in-Charge of Rangunia Police Station Arman Hossain said that upon receiving the information, a police team rushed to the spot and recovered the charred bodies from the debris.
