Hadi Murder: court grants 5-day remand to Raju to help to flee Faisal

DHAKA, Dec 24, 2025 (BSS)- A court here today granted a five-day remand to 
Aminul Islam Razu, 37, who reportedly helped prime accused of Sharif Osman 
Hadi Faisal Karim Masud alias Daud, 37, in the Sharif Osman Hadi murder case, 
to flee from the country through bordering area.

Sharif Osman Hadi, an independent candidate in the 13th National Election 
from Dhaka-8 constituency and convener of the Inqilab Moncho, succumbed to 
bullet injury at a health facility in Singapore on December 18.

Inspector Faisal Ahmed of the Detective Branch (DB) of Police and also the 
Investigation Officer (IO) of the case produced Raju before the Chief 
Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court and prayed for granting a 10-day remand. 

After the hearing, the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) of 
Dhaka Awlad Hossain Mohammad Junaid granted a five-day remand for Razu's 
interrogation.

Earlier, police arrested Raju from the city's Mirpur section-11 area at the 
early hours of today.

On December 12, at about 2:20 pm, miscreants shot Osman Hadi at Box Culvert 
Road under Paltan Police Station and fled the scene. 

In connection with the incident, on December 14, Inqilab Moncho Member 
Secretary Abdullah Al Jaber filed a case at Paltan Police Station on charges 
of attempted murder. Charges were brought against the accused under sections 
120(B)/326/307/109/34 of the Penal Code. 

Later, on December 20, following a petition submitted by the IO, Metropolitan 
Magistrate Siddiq Azad ordered to add section 302 (murder) of the Penal Code 
to the case.

According to the case statement, on December 12 at about 2:20 pm, Hadi was 
heading towards Suhrawardy Udyan after finishing campaign following Jummah 
prayers at Motijheel Mosque. The accused Faisal Karim Masud alias Daud and 
his unidentified accomplice, who were following him on a motorbike, shot him 
with firearms from a point blank range. 

Injured Hadi was first admitted to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) 
and later admitted to Evercare Hospital. As his condition deteriorated, he 
was airlifted to Singapore for advanced treatment and admitted to Singapore 
General Hospital. 

Subsequently, he died at 9:45 pm on December 18 while undergoing treatment at 
the hospital.
