CHATTOGRAM, Jan 2, 2025 (BSS)- Nomination papers of three candidates including an independent candidate of Chattogram-1 (Mirsarai) constituency were declared disqualified by the Returning Officer.

Nomination paper of the independent candidate Mohammad Ashraf Siddiqui has been disqualified on the ground that he mentioned the name and signature of a deceased person in the list of supporters.

Scrutiny of the nomination papers of the 13th National Parliament Election began at Deputy Commissioner's conference room at 10 am today.

Additionally, the nomination paper of Shahidul Islam Chowdhury, a rival BNP candidate, was revoked due to lack of any document of party nomination.

Jatiya Party (JP) candidate Mohammad Ershad Ullah's nomination papers were rejected for violating election rules.

Nominations of seven candidates have been declared valid. They are Syed Shahadat Hossain from Jatiya Party, Sheikh Zulfikar Bulbul Chowdhury from Bangladesh Muslim League (BML), Nurul Amin from BNP, AKM Abu Yusuf from Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD), Mohammad Saifur Rahman from Jamaat-e-Islami, Rezaul Karim from Insaniat Biplob, and Ferdous Ahmed Chowdhury from Islami Andolan Bangladesh.
